DYA Network exciting new partnership with STOP Sports Injuries
We are thrilled to announce that we have teamed up with Stop (Sports Trauma and Overuse Prevention) Sports Injury Campaign. Through the partnership we will help increase awareness and prevention of traumatic injuries in young athletes.
The campaign was initiated in 2007 by the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). The program focuses on the growing incidence of injuries among young athletes and the importance of sports safety-specifically relating to overuse and trauma injuries. The initiative provides education on injury reduction and highlights how playing safe and smart can enhance and extend a child's athletic career, improve teamwork, reduce obesity rates and create a lifelong love of exercise and healthy activity.
STOP Sports Injuries co-campaign chair and renowned orthopedic surgeon James R. Andrews, MD, decided that the issue of overuse injuries in young athletes was becoming a critical issue for its members to address. The campaign emphasizes the importance of sports safety, educates coaches, parents and athlete's on injury prevention techniques, and highlights the benefits of playing safe and smart.
The DYA Network will help with the initiative by providing the information and resources to coaches, parents, athletes and anyone who who wants to have a positive impact in a young athlete's total development. Visit our "Injury Prevention" section on our website for free educational material. Also visit the Stop Sports Injuries website at www.STOPsportsinjuries.org for more information.
